Summer reading program theme is “Build a Better World”
SHOW LOW, Ariz. (May 23, 2017) – Show Low Public Library’s free summer reading program kicks off with a party — with games, music, goodies and tons of fun! — on Thursday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 181 N. 9th Street. In keeping with this year’s theme of “Build a Better World,” early readers, kids, teens and adults can earn prizes along the way until the wrap-up party on July 28. After registering online, participants earn badges through reading, attending activities and completing missions, all of which are documented online.
Experts agree that reading during the summer is a must to help children maintain good reading skills and stem learning losses (commonly called “summer slide”) when school resumes in the fall. Keep up your child’s achievement as they have fun and learn through the summer reading program.
This year’s program is sponsored by Show Low Library Friends, Around the Mountain Pediatric Dentistry, The Show Low Optimist Club and Dollar General Literacy Foundation. For more information, call (928) 532-4070 or visit www.showlowaz.gov/library.
