[ARCHIVED] Show Low City Clerk Receives Award

Ann Kurasaki named AMCA “Clerk of the Year”

Show Low, AZ (August 17, 2017) – Ann Kurasaki, City Clerk for the City of Show Low, was presented with the Arizona Municipal Clerks’ Association “Clerk of the Year” Award at the AMCA conference held on July 25 in Fountain Hills.

Show Low Mayor Daryl Seymore said, “As Mayor of the City of Show Low, I believe that our City Clerk Ann Kurasaki should be recognized and applauded for upholding the objectives and the profession of municipal clerk to its highest standards.  She consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge, understanding, and application of the city’s policies and procedures, as well as the city’s vision and values.  Her level of professionalism and her abilities are unsurpassed.  Her initiative and team approach makes her an invaluable employee, while her silent service all too often goes unrecognized.”

Ann was hired as the Show Low Assistant City Clerk in 1997 and advanced to City Clerk in 2003.  She has been an active member of the Arizona Municipal Clerks’ Association and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks since 1997, earning the Certified Municipal Clerk and Master Municipal Clerk designations in 2000 and 2010, respectively.  She is both a Certified Municipal Election Official and a Certified Election Officer through the Secretary of State’s office.

Ann’s involvement in the community has earned the admiration of those with whom she comes into contact.  For the past five years, she has served as Administrative Assistant for the Apache-Navajo County Mayors and Council Members’ Association.  She has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and had earned the respect of her fellow clerks, employees, citizens and the City Council members. In addition to her many duties as City Clerk, she serves as Executive Assistant to the City Manager.  As a member of the city’s executive management team, she performs her duties and responsibilities with excellence and is dedicated to exceeding expectations.

Ann has unselfishly devoted her time and talents to the improvement of the AMCA and has made significant contributions in the last 20 years by serving on committees, including playing an essential role as the Chair of the Scholarship Committee for five years.  She also volunteered to serve as Interim AMCA Board Secretary in 2015 when there was a mid-term vacancy.

Mayor Seymore went on to say, “We are honored that Ann Kurasaki was selected as the 2017 AMCA Clerk of the Year for her distinguished service to the City of Show Low, its citizens, and the Arizona Municipal Clerks’ Association.”
