Girls can build a healthy and positive relationship with their bodies

Show Low, AZ (November 20, 2017) – The City of Show Low is partnering with the Dove Self-Esteem Project to encourage girls, ages 10 to 14 years, to develop a positive relationship with beauty, raise their self-esteem and enable them to realize their full potential. Called “Girl Power,” Show Low’s program spans four Fridays in 2018 (Jan. 26, Feb. 9, Feb. 23 and March 2) from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Show Low City Campus Teen Center, 620 E. McNeil, for $25 per participant. Girls can gain confidence by understanding and dealing with feelings about their physical appearance through a variety of activities, games and interpersonal interaction. Healthy snacks will be provided.

Pre-registration is required (class size must reach a minimum of seven girls by Jan. 19, 2018). Register in person at the parks and recreation desk at Show Low City Hall, 180 N. 9th Street, or Family Aquatic Center, 1100 W. Deuce of Clubs. Or register online at www.activityreg.com.

The Dove Self-Esteem Project was created in 2004 to help young people overcome body image issues and fulfill their potential by building positive body confidence and self-esteem. It is the world’s largest evidence-based self-esteem program, reaching over 23 million young people across 139 countries by the end of 2016. Dove provides a guide and teaching materials.
