Open to boys and girls from 0 to 5 years old
SHOW LOW, Ariz. (September 19, 2018) – Show Low Public Library is launching a new program to encourage early literacy, called The Big Read, for boys and girls 5 years old and younger and their parents on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 9 to 11 a.m. at 181 N. 9th Street. Children will be encouraged to come dressed in pajamas, bring a favorite stuffed animal and choose books from the library’s Children's Center for their parents to read with them. Popcorn will be served and blankets and pillows will be available to use to build forts. Stuffed animals can be left overnight in the library, where they will enjoy a sleepover together, then the children can pick up the stuffed toy the next day and it will come with a surprise goodie bag!
There is an optional online element to this event, with parents invited to take selfies of reading to their children and posting the pictures on social media using the hashtag #SLTheBigRead2018. For more information, call (928) 532-4070.
