SHOW LOW, Ariz. (February 7, 2020) – The City of Show Low is accepting applications from any citizen interested in serving on the Show Low City Council for the remainder of a term that expires in December 2020 and, potentially, the remainder of a second term that expires in December 2022. To serve as a Council member, an individual must be at least 18 years old and be a qualified elector (registered to vote) residing within the city limits of Show Low for at least one year prior to the appointment. The appointment will be made by the sitting Council members, anticipated to be in March 2020, after individual applicant interviews are held, should the Council deem them necessary.The vacancy was created on the passing of Councilman Rennie Crittenden, who served the city for many years in the capacities of Planning and Zoning Commissioner, City Council member and Vice Mayor.The Show Low City Council acts as the governing body of the city, with all the regulatory and corporate powers of a municipal corporation provided under Arizona state law. In general, the Council supervises the operations of city government by establishing city policies and programs and appropriating funds for each city department.Applications are available at Show Low City Hall, 180 North 9th Street, on the city’s website, or by contacting the city clerk’s office at 532-4061. They will be accepted until 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2020.
