[ARCHIVED] SHOW LOW CITIZENS REMINDED TO KEEP STREETS CLEAR DURING SNOWSTORMS

SHOW LOW, AZ – With winter weather upon us, Show Low citizens are reminded that all City streets must be clear of vehicles and trash cans (polycarts) during active snowplowing operations.  Any vehicle normally parked on a City street must be moved off the street by the time the snow falls and the plows begin operating. So, too, with polycarts, which create an additional hazard for snowplow operators because they can be difficult to see and avoid during storm conditions.

To keep everyone safe and because snowplowing equipment can operate 24 hours a day if needed, it is imperative to keep City streets clear.  Obstructions—whether they are vehicles or trash receptacles—pose a danger or may make it impossible to plow the street completely and successfully. Section 18-3-1 of the Show Low City code, adopted in 2010, states that owners of vehicles parked on the street while the snowplows are working may be cited and/or their vehicles towed (at the owner’s expense).

Let’s work together to help everyone be safe during and after snowstorms.  Direct questions to Rick Austin, Public Works Department, at (928) 532-4100 for snowplowing questions or Chief of Police Brad Provost at (928) 537-4365 for enforcement questions.  Thank you.
