The 5 members of the Board of Adjustment are appointed by the Mayor and City Council, and serve without compensation for 4-year terms. The powers and duties of the Board of Adjustment include:
Hearing and deciding appeals to orders, requirements, or decisions made by the zoning administrator in the enforcement of the zoning ordinance
Hearing and deciding appeals for variances from the terms of the zoning ordinance due to special circumstances applicable to the property
Hearing requests for reasonable accommodation under the zoning code for an individual with a disability, or disability of an individual(s), who will reside at the property, pursuant to state or federal law.
