[ARCHIVED] Register Today for National Night Out on Aug. 4

Strengthen neighborhood spirit to fight back against crime

Show Low, AZ (July 15, 2015) – Community groups, neighborhoods, apartment complexes, homeowners’ associations and trailer parks can register today for the 32nd annual National Night Out, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. In 2014, the program involved over 38 million people in 16,540 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. National Night Out 2015 is expected to be the largest ever.
To get involved and receive a kit of free registration materials, call 1-800-NITE-OUT or visit the National Night Out website at www.nationalnightout.org. Also contact Sgt. Mike Butora of the Show Low Police Department at (928) 537-5091 ext. 243 or at mbutora@showlowaz.gov to register your National Night Out event and schedule officers to attend your functions. The first four neighborhoods, apartment complexes, etc. to register with Sgt. Butora will receive a $50 gift card to Walmart to help offset expenses for the event.
Join others in celebrating National Night Out by turning on your outdoor and porch lights, holding block parties and cookouts, having local law enforcement personnel visit your neighborhood, or holding safety fairs and youth events.
