National Friends of Libraries Week is Oct. 18-24
SHOW LOW, Ariz. (October 12, 2015) – Show Low Public Library will spend the week of Oct. 18-24 celebrating its Friends of the Library group as part of the tenth annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week. Show Low Library Friends, Inc., established in 1983, raises thousands of dollars for the library every year through annual contributions from community members and about a dozen active volunteers who assist with fundraising efforts that include the Garden of Readin’ used bookstore. “Our library would be much poorer without the Friends,” said Library Services Manager Jeff Collins. “The funds they raise definitely put the icing on the cake. I think most library users would be surprised to learn how many of the services, programs and equipment they enjoy are supported by the Friends.” Consider joining this nonprofit organization. Annual membership dues are only $10. For more information about the Friends, visit www.showlowaz.gov/library, stop by the library at 181 N. 9th Street, call (928) 532-4070 or send an email to library@showlowaz.gov.
