$7,500 awarded by Disney and Association for Library Service to Children
SHOW LOW, Ariz. (November 18, 2015) – Show Low Public Library will receive a $7,500 Curiosity Creates grant from Disney and the Association for Library Service to Children, one of 79 libraries, and the only library in Arizona, out of over 400 applicants nationwide to be selected for this prestigious grant. The library will use the funds to provide after-school programming, purchase new learning activities for the Children’s Center and purchase new STEM-related (an acronym for the fields of science, technology, engineering and math) library materials for cardholders to borrow.
“We’re excited to provide classes that are designed to foster creativity and imagination in children for our community in a safe, after-school environment,” said Library Services Manager Jeff Collins. The new LEGO Club and Creative Club, for children ages 6 to 14, will be held Tuesdays at 3:45 p.m. in the library’s event room, starting in January.
