SHOW LOW, Ariz. (April 5, 2016) – Show Low Parks and Recreation is excited to announce two new events, the Deuces Wild 5K Poker Fun Run and 4-on-4 volleyball tournament, held on Saturday, May 7, in conjunction with the City of Show Low’s 63rd anniversary celebration and 4th annual BBQ Throwdown at the Senior Field at Show Low City Park, 1335 W. Owens.
The fun run is a non-timed race, for only $12 per participant, beginning at 8:30 a.m., with check-in at 8:00 at Show Low’s Old Pavilion. Walk, run or jog “straight” to the finish line of the 3.5-mile route, collecting your five-card hand along the way. It’s not a “bluff” that the best poker hand will win a cash prize. Beat the “odds” and register early to guarantee a race tee (registration ends April 28).
The all-day 4-on-4 volleyball tournament at City Park’s Ponderosa Field will include both a women’s and a coed division. The $50 registration fee ensures contestants have a two-game guarantee for this double-elimination tournament. Registration is limited to the first eight teams per division and closes April 29. Register for either event at the Recreation Department at Show Low City Hall, 180 N. 9th Street, or Show Low Family Aquatic Center, 1100 W. Deuce of Clubs, or online at www.showlowaz.gov. For additional information, call (928) 532-4140.
