SHOW LOW, Ariz. (June 24, 2016) – The pre-evacuation notice for the City of Show Low, which was issued June 15 by Show Low Police Chief Joe Shelley in response to the Cedar Fire, has been lifted immediately. This cancelation notice has been issued in conjunction with emergency services managers in Navajo County and other jurisdictions within the county. US Highway 60 will remain closed at this time.
The city remains under Stage I fire restrictions, so everyone is urged to continue exercising extreme caution. Remember that fires and campfires are restricted to designated campgrounds, although devices fueled by liquid petroleum (propane grills) used in an area cleared of flammable materials are allowed. Smoking is allowed only within an enclosed vehicle or building, in a developed recreation site or in an area cleared of flammable materials at least three feet in diameter. The use of fireworks, explosive targets or tracer round ammunition is prohibited. The city appreciates the public’s patience, restraint and support of firefighting efforts while dealing with a stressful wildfire situation.
