Learn more about the permanent base adjustment
SHOW LOW, Ariz. (July 8, 2016) – The City of Show Low will hold an informational meeting on the permanent base adjustment proposition, which will appear on the August 30 primary election ballot, on Wednesday, July 27, at 6 p.m. in the Show Low Council Chambers, 181 N. 9th Street. City staff will explain Proposition 407, which asks voters to consider permanently adjusting the city’s expenditure base by $4.5 million. The current expenditure base was created in 1980 and is based on the city’s total expendi¬tures in 1980 and its population in 1978, adjusted for inflation and growth. Amending the expenditure base would maintain current levels of service, which have increased significantly since 1980, and give the City Council local control to adopt a balanced budget within existing resources. There would be no impact to the city’s existing taxes or revenues. For more information about the public meeting, contact Justin Johnson at (928) 532-4024.
