Increase crime prevention awareness in your neighborhood
Show Low, AZ (July 13, 2016) – Community groups, neighborhoods, apartment complexes, homeowners’ associations and trailer parks can register today for the 33rd annual National Night Out, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 2. National Night Out heightens crime prevention awareness and sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. To get involved and receive a kit of free “how to” materials, call 1-800-NITE-OUT or visit the National Night Out website at www.nationalnightout.org. Also contact Sgt. Shawn Roby of the Show Low Police Department at (928) 537-5091, ext. 232 or sroby@showlowaz.gov to register your National Night Out event and schedule officers to attend your functions. The first four neighborhoods, apartment complexes, etc. to register with Sgt. Roby will receive a $50 gift card to Walmart to help offset expenses for the event.
National Night Out generates participation in local anti-crime programs and strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. The program continues to grow every year. In 2015, the program involved more than 38.3 million individuals in 16,728 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. National Night Out 2016 is expected to top last year’s figures.
Join others in celebrating National Night Out by turning on your outdoor lights, holding block parties and cookouts, having local law enforcement personnel visit your neighborhood, or holding safety fairs and youth events.
