[ARCHIVED] City Kicks Off Fall Bmx Season with Labor Day Night Races

Racing season will run in September and October

SHOW LOW, Ariz. (August 5, 2016) – Join the excitement as the City of Show Low kicks off the fall BMX season with night racing beginning Labor Day weekend at the Show Low BMX track at Nikolaus Homestead Park, 1001 E. Mills. Friday, Sept. 2, features the Bob Warnicke Scholarship Race (single-point race) and Saturday, Sept. 3, is a single-point race. Registration and practice for both days are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., with the races beginning as soon as racetrack preparations are completed. There will be race classifications by age groups for novice, intermediate and expert riders. Cost per participant is $10 per race classification. If you have never raced before, there is a one-day FREE introductory membership available to give you the chance to experience the sport. Experienced racers pay the $10 fee along with their current BMX membership. A 30-day membership for $30 or a full (annual) membership for $60 will be available for purchase.

Thanks to the generosity of United Rentals, who will provide the lights, the season will continue through September with nightly Saturday races. In October, the weekly schedule switches to Saturday afternoons, with registration and practice from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., followed by the races.
