Learn how to string live flowers into a wearable lei
SHOW LOW, Ariz. (January 18, 2017) – Come learn how to make your own flower lei using live Hawaiian flowers on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Show Low Public Library, 181 N. 9th Street. You will also learn about the different kinds of lei, how to wear one properly and how to dispose of a lei with respect. An adult class for ages 18 and older will be held at 1 p.m. and a children’s class for ages 10 to 17 will be held at 3:45 p.m. There is no cost for either workshop, but you must obtain a ticket to participate. Tickets will be available beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the library. Maximum class size is 25. The workshop will be taught by Bunny Halverson of Halau O Kanoelani (a local hula group), with materials provided by Arizona Aloha Festival and Hawaii Flower Lei.
