[ARCHIVED] Explore the Topic of “Survival” on June 8 at Show Low Library

National Science Foundation funds “Pushing the Limits” program

SHOW LOW, Ariz. (May 4, 2017) – Join other like-minded adults and learn more about science topics through an informal discussion of the novel, “Arctic Drift” by Clive Cussler, on Thursday, June 8, at 6:15 p.m. at Show Low Public Library, 181 N. 9th Street. “Artic Drift” explores the topic of survival through the eyes of oceanographer Dirk Pitt, who traces a lost ship’s mysterious cargo to a scientific discovery that could reverse the dangers of climate change. The discussion will be moderated by Muriel Metcalf, M.S., M.Ed., who is a teacher and tutor of mathematics and science. The library has several copies of the book for participants to check out and read prior to this free event.

The novel is part of the Pushing the Limits program, a reading, viewing and discussion program geared for rural libraries that uses popular fiction to introduce adults to broad scientific themes, made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation. Along with an informal discussion, videos of author interviews and human interest stories will be shown and light refreshments will be provided.
