A library card is the smartest card in your wallet
SHOW LOW, Ariz. (September 5, 2017) – A public library card is your ticket to free educational resources and activities that bring families together. September is National Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Show Low Public Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure every student has the most important school supply of all — a free library card. Adults and seniors, too, can sign up and use their free library card to cultivate their love of reading and learning.
Show Low Public Library offers materials, programs and knowledgeable library staff that support academic achievement, including access to free online tutoring through the library’s website. Resources encompass early literacy storytimes for preschool age children, computer and technology classes for teenagers and adults, and a variety of monthly events, including book clubs and author events. There’s something for everyone at the library and it’s all free with a library card.
Anyone who signs up for a new library card, excluding a replacement card, will be entered into a drawing to win a special prize. Three lucky winners will be chosen to receive a $10 movie gift card and a coupon for free popcorn.
Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. For more information on how to sign up for a library card, go to showlowaz.gov/library, call (928) 532-4070 or send an email to library@showlowaz.gov.
