Resources teach how to live healthier lives
SHOW LOW, Ariz. (January 15, 2019) – Show Low Public Library, at 181 N. 9th Street, is debuting a healthy living section on Monday, Feb. 11. Healthy snacks will be served during the open house. The new materials—purchased with grant funds received from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine—focus on living healthy lives and developing greater physical and emotional well-being through health and fitness information, children’s materials and cookbooks. Also available for checkout will be a variety of kitchen items to help families whip up delicious, healthful recipes. Future plans include library staff and guest presenters giving cooking demonstrations (with samples) and presentations on ways to become healthier, raise healthy and well-balanced children, budgeting tips and much more.
In addition, parents with children of all ages can learn valuable tips on how to raise healthy children at a monthly club beginning Monday, Feb. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. The “Raising Healthy Children Club” will meet the second Monday of every month. Topics will cover nutrition, exercise for kids, emotional well-being and other relevant subjects. Parents can relax and enjoy the discussion while their children are participating in a fun activity.
