[ARCHIVED] March 1 is deadline for applications to Show Low Committees

March 1 is deadline for applications to Show Low committees

The City of Show Low is accepting applications until 5 p.m. Friday, March 1, from citizens interested in serving on a city committee. Vacancies are available on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and Aviation Advisory Committee. All terms are four years, expiring March 2023. Eligibility for membership includes being a Show Low resident (defined as residing within the incorporated boundaries of the city), with the exception of the Aviation Advisory Committee.

The following highlights committee members’ duties:
- The seven-member Planning and Zoning Commission deliberates and makes recommendations to the Council on planning and zoning issues, including land use, growth and development, and zoning districts.
- The five-member Board of Adjustment considers variances and appeals related to land use and planning and zoning. Applicants should understand land use and building codes or work in a related technical trade.
- The five-member Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee considers and makes recommendations to the Council on matters related to open space, parks, fields and recreation policies and programs and serves in an advisory capacity to the city’s parks and recreation department and city management.
- The five-member Aviation Advisory Committee discusses and makes recommendations to the Council on aviation issues and, specifically, the Show Low Regional Airport. Applicants must reside in Navajo County and may be pilots, non-pilots, business people and citizens (Show Low residency is preferred).

Applications are available at Show Low City Hall, 180 N. 9th Street, or online at www.showlowaz.gov. Direct questions to (928) 532-4061.
