Mayor John Leech, Jr. announced that current City Manager Ed Muder has given notice of his retirement on January 31, 2023. We would like to thank Ed for 34 1/2 years of dedicated service to the City and for nearly 16 years as the City Manager. It has been a pleasure to work with him, and we wish him well in his retirement.
Ed accomplished many important projects over his 16 years as City Manager, including the renovation of the current City Hall, the construction of a new library and police building, the preservation of the meadow, expanded facilities at the airport, the purchase and preservation of the Reidhead House, Old City Jail, Adams Cabin and purchase of properties for future city parks among many other things. Please thank him for his service to our community. He has made it a better place to live, work and recreate. Ed commented, “It has been an honor to work for the City of Show Low, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Show Low and for the support provided throughout the years. I appreciate the confidence in me and our excellent staff as we worked to improve the City of Show Low.”
The City Council has appointed Morgan Brown as our new City Manager, effective January 31, 2023. Morgan has been the full-time City Attorney for ten years and has been involved in providing legal services to the City for over 26 years. We are confident in his abilities to lead the City moving forward and congratulate him on his appointment. Prior to working for the City full-time, Morgan was a partner in Brown & Brown Law Offices. Morgan looks forward to the new challenge as city manager and has stated, “I appreciate the Council’s confidence in my abilities and will do my best for the City of Show Low. I look forward to working with Council, staff, and citizens to continue making Show Low a great place to live, work, and visit.” Morgan and his wife, Shawna, a 4th-grade teacher at Nikolaus Homestead Elementary School, have three children and one grandchild and have lived in Show Low for over 26 years.
